Product Architecture &
Engineering Tradeoffs.
Detailed engineering breakdowns of technical challenges, architectural decisions, and operational outcomes from building Wayvix software products.
Note: These are internal product-engineering case studies documenting our own software architecture.
Wayvix Transcriber
The Challenge
Transcription workflows often rely on cloud API endpoints, creating recurring per-minute costs and privacy risks when handling confidential speech audio, executive meetings, or legal recordings. Conversely, naive local transcription on consumer workstations often suffers from high CPU utilization, sluggish performance, and memory crashes on long audio files.
Architectural Approach & Decisions
- DirectX 11 & GPU Acceleration: Bound C++/Rust GPU execution directly to consumer Windows Graphics cards, keeping execution smooth without requiring dedicated server infrastructure.
- Chunked Audio Pipeline: Audio files are streamed and processed in bounded memory chunks to prevent VRAM allocation overflows during extended recording sessions.
- On-Device Processing Architecture: Local Whisper inference workflow designed to process media directly on user hardware.
Current Result & Status
A standalone Windows desktop application (v1.0) capable of offline Whisper speech-to-text inference on consumer GPUs. Active development focuses on additional model export formats and automated batch queueing.

Wayvix Audio Prep
The Challenge
Speech recognition accuracy drops significantly when source audio contains low volume levels, HVAC hums, microphone hiss, or ambient room noise. Non-audio engineers often struggle with complex digital audio workstations (DAWs) just to clean up basic spoken recordings.
Architectural Approach & Decisions
- Custom C# DSP Engine: Engineered a lightweight, standalone C# audio processing pipeline that analyzes signal dynamics without requiring external DAW installation or heavy plugin hosts.
- Preset-Driven Signal Cleanup: Non-destructive noise gate presets and speech gain normalization designed specifically for speech-to-text pre-processing.
- Instant Waveform Visual Feedback: Immediate visual confirmation of signal amplitude before and after cleanup filter application.
Current Result & Status
A free Windows utility (v1.0) providing speech audio cleanup presets. Future releases aim to add multi-file batch cleaning and automated profile saving.

TurboJira Desktop
The Challenge
Complex web-based issue tracking systems like Jira frequently experience page load latency, cumbersome navigation across tabs, and total unavailability during network dropouts, disrupting daily developer focus and ticket reviews.
Architectural Approach & Decisions
- Local SQLite Full-Text Indexing (FTS5): Syncs assigned Jira tickets, comments, and field metadata into a local SQLite database for instant full-text search.
- Background Delta Synchronization: Fetches API updates asynchronously in the background while keeping the desktop user interface instantly responsive.
- Offline Draft Editing: Enables developers to draft comment updates or status changes offline, syncing back automatically when reconnected.
Current Result & Status
An active Windows desktop build currently undergoing private preview testing. Development continues around delta sync optimization and custom field filtering.
